Ladies: Donate Your Pantyhose to Help Clean Up Oil Spill
As odd as it may sound, donating your pantyhose can help clean up the recent Golf Coast oil spill. Hanes brands are donating 50,000 pairs of used pantyhose to create oil-absorbing hair booms. The booms will absorb and trap oil. Chris Fox, vice president of corporate social responsibility for Hanes Brands, says,
"We were fascinated to learn of this other use for pantyhose. Hair acts as a sponge. When you put these booms in oil-polluted water, they absorb the oil and leave the water crystal clear." For more information or to donate, visit www.matteroftrust.org.
