No More Dentists? Gel Regenerates Teeth

A new peptide, in gel or film form, allows cells inside teeth to regenerate inside the mouth within a month. Dentists will not have to do any more drilling, thanks to this innovative technology.

"It's not like toothpaste," which prevent cavities, said Nadia Benkirane-Jessel, a scientist at the Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale and a co-author of a recent paper. "Here we are really trying to control cavities (after they develop)." The gel or thin film contains a peptide known as MSH, or melanocyte-stimulating hormone.

It could make trips to the dentist much more enjoyable, with less pain and discomfort. It also avoids crowns after a cavity is filled. Pow!

It can be a great concept in the field of dentistry. Still, that leaves out stuff like braces, impacted wisdom teeth, and other miscellaneous dental problems. It can make the trip to the dentist more enjoyable, but the best way to do that is to keep one's teeth clean to avoid bad breath and unhealthy teeth.
